Session Description:

Immersive learning through games, gamification, and simulations is being used by a variety of institutions and organizations to transform the learning experience. Information distribution as a primary outcome of training no longer meets the performance needs of the business or its employees. Training solutions should focus on critical thinking and problem-solving to improve employee performance. Games and game mechanics provide opportunities to focus on exploring and doing, versus just listening.

It can be a big leap for trainers and instructional designers to move toward using games and designing game-based learning. Join this session to explore the ways in which you can take that leap and take advantage of immersive learning solutions to transform the impact of training solutions.

About the Speaker:

Andy Petroski is the Director and Assistant Professor of Learning Technologies at Harrisburg University of Science & Technology. Andy coordinates the Learning Technologies Master of Science program and teaches courses in serious game design, gamification, advanced instructional design, and online learning. His work at Harrisburg University has included efforts in the areas of educational technology strategy, games and simulations, classroom technology, web 2.0, patient education, social learning, and faculty development. Andy regularly presents webinars and demonstrates best practices for gamification for the classroom, social learning, virtual classrooms, and problem-based instructional design.
