New Tools for L&D Measurement

John R. Mattox II, Ph.D., principal consultant with Metrics that Matter, a Division of Explorance, recently spoke to a group of Atlanta-area learning leaders about how to measure learning programs for impact and the new technologies that are available to help with the measurement process.

“Training programs should have a measurable impact on learning, application, performance and business outcomes,” Mattox said. “There are many ways to measure these outcomes, but the two most effective ways are impact studies and comparison to standards.”

The Rise Of Virtual And Augmented Reality

With the rise of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology and solutions, we are already seeing great use cases in the corporate training and learning world. Just think, you don't have to leave your office for training; and by merely putting on a headset, you are transported to any location in the world in a realistic environment where you feel like you are literally in the room. EdTech For The Information “Now” Age

Business training and learning is a multi-billion dollar market, with mobile training seeing double-digit growth in 2016. This upward trend in mobile training is expected to continue in 2017. Why? However, we are seeing that most of these training development and delivery solutions continue to be Web first—mobile is often viewed as just one more screen for consumption of the same content. It is my belief that the future of training development and delivery is in a mobile-first world.

Learning Innovations For Younger Generations

Technology and social media have become an integral aspect of our daily life. Facebook, for instance, started out as a simple platform, where friends could exchange short messages and pictures. Today, the site boasts over 2 million members. Various other platforms along with Facebook have brought about drastic changes that directly affect not only the way we communicate, but also the way young talents are trained and taught in the workplace.

Saving time and money via new training formats are added bonuses to today’s organizations. An undeniable fact about the century we live in is that it is fast-paced and technology-oriented. The astounding digital improvements that have taken place in recent years have even made it possible to design customized training programs that can be distributed globally within split seconds. This innovative method can save thousands, if not millions of dollars. Besides being budget-friendly, the 21st century technology also enables young trainees to save time and energy by avoiding travel to various training spots as they can conduct their intern program online from the comfort of their home office.
