About this Course

Good communication depends on more than effective speakers; you need effective listeners, too. Discover ways to increase your listening skills utilizing the Personal Listening Profile. Learn to listen with the clarity, focus and purpose it takes for total and successful communication. Topics include:

• Discover your listening approach or your natural way of listening
• Appreciative/Empathic/Comprehensive/Discerning/Evaluative
• Learn how listening approaches impact listening effectiveness
• Understand the focus, motivation, and behavioral indicators of the five listening approaches
• Explore other listening approaches and their appropriate use in different situations
• Develop a willingness to listen actively and positively, capitalize on your strengths
• Develop effective listening strategies and create a personal development plan to improve overall communications
• Enhance individual and team performance, foster a positive listening environment

• Personal Listening Profile Self Assessment
• Lecture (20 minute segments) with Q&A using PowerPoint Presentations and Wall Charts, etc.
• Dyad, triad and large group activities (Case studies, Role plays, Games, etc.)
